Seen the hikikomori
Coming out of their lonely room
Seen the cliffs of Okinawa
Where the innocent were doomed
Seen the children in San Lazaro
Laughing, playing in the street
Been with the Navajo in Utah
Burning in the desert heat
I’ve been all around the world
Heard stories and heard tales
This one thing I do know -
Your love never fails
Seen the fear in Mother Russia
Where the mafia was king
Seen graffiti’d walls in Belfast
Sidewalks of blue and green
Seen the Haight in ’67
Where they thought they knew real love
Seen the truth come piercing through me
Felt the white descending dove
I’ve been all around the world
Seen mighty ships with sails
This one thing I do know -
Your love never fails
I’ve been all around the world
Been in prisons and in jails
This one thing I do know -
Your love never fails

I can remember as a boy of 8, while living in Travis Air Force Base, California, riding in the back seat of my parents' car in the Haight-Ashbury area of San Francisco. It was the Summer of Love, as they say, and my dad was muttering something like, "Those damn hippies..." Good times, good times...
