COME FOLLOW ME
(Nori Kelley)

How hard it is for those who trust in their riches
To enter the kingdom
How hard it is for those who trust in their riches
To enter the kingdom

Take up your cross - deny yourself
What does it profit if a man gain the world
And lose his soul?
Give to the poor - expect no return
One cannot follow me if he does not give up
All that he has

Visit the sick and in prison
Take strangers in, too
If you've done it to the least of my brethren, you've done it
You've done it to Me
Go into the world
And make disciples
Teaching them to observe all I've taught you
Endure to the end and be saved

How hard it is for those who don't take up their cross
To enter the kingdom
Come follow Me...

As I read the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John) I began to notice what I felt was a gap between the teachings of Jesus and the lives of those I knew in church. This began a trend in my songwriting over the next several years that bordered perhaps on judgementalism - but hey, if Keith Green could do it...
