DAY RIVER
(Nori Kelley)

The sun comes up over the mountain
Chasing the shadows away
Deer takes a drink from the fountain
Birds are beginning to play
Worries and fears from the nighttime
All disappear with the dawn
Mist giving way to the lightshine
The dirge turns into a new song

The river is constantly moving
The future is just out of sight
Light always follows the darkness
Day follows after the night

Life is sometimes like the river
You just have to go with the flow
Sometimes the cold sends a shiver
Knowing we reap what we sow

The river is constantly moving
The future is just out of sight
Light always follows the darkness
Day follows after the night

Whenever life brings you sorrow
If ever you just lose your way
God gives us hope for tomorrow
And courage to face a new day

This song evolved from the last one, Night River, as I imagined (as many have done before) how the flow of a river could represent life and time.

Have never written a "chug-chug" song before, but I've always loved the brushes-on-the-snare thing! I guess this also carries the album a bit into a Knopfleresque country feel, also a first for us, I think... =)
